What is a
Parish Mission?
Parish Missions are major events in the life of a parish! They are times of awakening and renewal for both our spiritual lives and our interpersonal lives. Most importantly, however, is that at a Parish Mission, all are welcome. Whether you come to Church every Sunday or you've gotten out of the habit, whether you have missed being a part of our parish community or you have yet to find a way in, and even whether you are a member of our parish or not, we invite you to come and see.
This year's Parish Mission is an opportunity to grow in faith and in community with the incredible people at St. John Neumann. Each night starts with food and time to mingle and catch up with friends, new and old, and then transitions into an evening of reviatlization of heart, soul, and mind. Powerful, relevant preaching of the Good News of Jesus will open up opportunities for our hears to be set ablaze, igniting (or possibly re-igniting) our passion for our faith and for each other.
There's only so much we can capture in text on a website, so we invite you to come and see what our SJN Parish Mission is all about. Bring the whole family, invite friends and relatives, and enjoy a night of food and faith. Whether you're an avid Catholic, ready to dive deeper into your faith, or someone from another faith tradition looking for another angle into Christian spirituality, we invite you to join us on the evenings of February 6-8 to experience something unlike anything you've ever experienced before.

Our Speaker
Mike Patin.
Mike Patin uses energy, humor and stories to affirm God's goodness and presence among us while inviting others (and himself) to take the "next step" in our journey with God.
Mike has worked in ministry settings since 1984, first as a high school teacher and coach, and then in diocesan ministry for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Since 2003, he has worked full time as a speaker and “faith horticulturist.”
Throughout his ministry, Mike has been privileged to speak to groups ranging from 10 to 23,000 in over 130 dioceses in the U.S. and Canada. He has spoken at parish missions, conferences, rallies, retreats, leadership institutes, and in-services, addressing youth, adults, families, clergy, seminarians, school faculties, businesses, athletic teams and hospital staffs.
"We have found the Messiah".
What should
you expect?
If you've never been to a Parish Mission before, you're likely unsure what to expect on any of the given evenings. In short, you can expect an evening of food, friendship, and faith, but for more details, keep reading.
Each evening, we will start with dinner at the school. Depending on the night, we will either be in the school Cafeteria or out on the back field. After dinner, we will all move into the school gym where we will begin our Mission for that night. The Mission will be said in English, but there will be an opportunity to request translation when signing up through the Eventbrite platform from any of the "Sign Up" buttons on this website. Additionally, for those who may need assistance hearing, hearing aids are available for the event.
During the Mission, we will spend some time in prayer through spoken words and music, and then we will hear from Mike Patin, our energetic speaker. Throughout Mike's talk, he will challenge and encourage us on a topic specifically selected for that night. Don't worry if you can't make it to every night, however, each night is able to stand on its own without having attended the previous nights. After the Mission is finished, we will have light refreshments and time to mingle and come together as a community.
